ODC Network: Reforestation
Location: Outdoor Discovery Center
Lifetime Sequestration Estimate: 2,734 metric tons
ACTIVE: 5 acres of native trees were planted on an old blueberry field.
Through funding from the Community Carbon Fund and Michigan Department of Natural Resources, ODC Network was able to plant 4,000 native trees, removing invasive species, and taking out overgrown blueberry bushes.
A big Thank You to all of the volunteer groups from Huntington Bank, Haworth, BHS Insurance, and Fleetwood Group who contributed several hours to planting trees!
Tree Species Planted: Basswood, Black Willow, Hackberry, Red Maple, Red Mulberry, River Birch, Swamp White Oak, Sycamore, Tulip Poplar, and Yellow Birch.
